What's Included in Your $32,000 K2 Expedition Package

 

Pre-Expedition Services

  • Airport transfers in Islamabad and Skardu

  • Hotel accommodations in Islamabad (2 nights) and Skardu (3 nights)

  • All domestic flights (Islamabad-Skardu-Islamabad)

  • LOI and necessary documents required to apply for Trekking/Mountaineering visa in Pakistan

  • K2 climbing permit and all government fees

  • Liaison officer fees and expenses

  • Pre-expedition support, briefings and gear checks

 

During the Expedition

  • Professional expedition leader and climbing guides

  • 1:1 ratio experienced Pakistani HAP support

  • Three a day meals during trekking and at base camp including while climbing and unlimited hot drinks with snacks available

  • High-altitude base camp accommodation (dining tent, kitchen tent, toilet tent)

  • High-altitude tents for all camps (Camp 1, 2, 3, and 4)

  • Tips for staff ($350 minimum) and Pakistani HAPs ($1000 if climber makes it to camp IV and an additional $1500 summit bonus if client summits)

Arrival in Islamabad

  • Arrival: Today is day 1 of the expedition. We will start with a group meeting at 5pm and then enjoy a group dinner together before an early morning departure for Skardu the next day.

  • Activities: Rest and adjust to the time zone. If time allows, explore Islamabad before our group meeting & dinner. 

  • Overnight: Hotel in Islamabad.

Islamabad to Skardu (By flight)

  • Morning: Early morning flight from Islamabad to Skardu (weather permitting).

  • Arrival: Check into your hotel in Skardu.

  • Activities: Rest day to adjust to the altitude. Visit local sights such as Skardu Bazaar, Shangrila Resort, or the Skardu Fort.

  • Overnight: Hotel in Skardu.

Preparation day in Skardu

  • Today the team will make final preparations gathering food, finalizing permits & organizing group gear before we depart early tomorrow. We will also have a formal briefing by the Ministry of Tourism. 

  • Activities: Rest day to adjust to the altitude. Visit local sights such as Skardu Bazaar, Shangrila Resort, or the Skardu Fort.

  • Overnight: Hotel in Skardu.

Skardu to Askole (By jeep)

  • Morning: Drive from Skardu to Askole (6-8 hours).

  • Arrival: Arrive in Askole, the last village accessible by road, and camp.

  • Activities: Organize gear and prepare for the trek ahead.

  • Overnight: Camp in Askole.

Askole to Jhula (Trek, 6-7 hours)

  • Trek Distance: 21 km

  • Elevation Gain: 430 m (3,150 m)

  • Trek Details: Start trekking towards Jhula, crossing the Braldu River and passing through rocky terrain.

  • Overnight: Camp at Jhula.

Jhula to Paiju (Trek, 5-6 hours)

  • Trek Distance: 20 km

  • Elevation Gain: 630 m (3,400 m)

  • Trek Details: Continue trekking towards Paiju, crossing several small streams and enjoying the views of the surrounding mountains.

  • Overnight: Camp at Paiju.

Paiju to Khoburtse (Trek, 6-8 hours)

  • Trek Distance: 14 km

  • Elevation Gain: 750 m (3,830 m)

  • Trek Details: Follow the Braldu River, gradually ascending and moving towards Khoburtse.

  • Overnight: Camp at Khoburtse.

Khoburtse to Urdukas (Trek, 2-4 hours)

  • Trek Distance: 6 km

  • Elevation Gain: 400 m (4,050 m)

  • Trek Details: A relatively easy day, finishing early at Urdukas. 

  • Overnight: Camp at Urdukas.

Urdukas to Goro II (Trek, 5-7 hours)

  • Trek Distance: 12 km

  • Elevation Gain: 480 m (4,250 m)

  • Trek Details: Continue trekking along the Baltoro Glacier's lateral moraine towards Goro II, which offers some of the best views of the Karakoram Range as you progress deeper into this glacial highway.

  • Overnight: Camp at Goro II.

Goro II to Concordia (Trek, 6-7 hours)

  • Trek Distance: 14 km

  • Elevation Gain: 600 m (4,600 m)

  • Trek Details: Trek towards the iconic Concordia campsites at the end of the Baltoro Glacier, one of the most scenic spots in the Karakoram. At Concordia, you are surrounded by towering peaks like K2, Broad Peak, and Gasherbrum IV. 

  • Overnight: Camp at Concordia.

Concordia to K2 Base Camp (Trek, 6-7 hours)

  • Trek Distance: 12 km

  • Elevation Gain: 500 m (5,000 m)

  • Trek Details: Trek to K2 Base Camp, passing by Broad Peak BC on the way. Today you will be surrounded by some of the most majestic peaks in the world.

  • Overnight: Camp at K2 Base Camp.

12 - 43

Climbing Days

  • Days 12-43 are reserved for doing rotations and proper acclimatization with room for a proper weather window and summit push.

K2 Base Camp to Concordia (Trek, 6-7 hours)

  • Trek Distance: 12 km

  • Elevation Loss: 500 m (4,600 m)

  • Trek Details: Descend back to Concordia, where you can relax and enjoy panoramic views of the surrounding peaks.

  • Overnight: Camp at Concordia.

Concordia to Ali Camp (Trek, 5-6 hours)

  • Trek Distance: 11 km

  • Elevation Gain: 560m (4,900 m)

  • Trek Details: Leave our beautiful Concordia campsite, heading toward Ali Camp, which offers views of K2, Broad Peak, and the surrounding mountains.

  • Overnight: Camp at Ali Camp.

Ali Camp to Gondogoro La to Kuisbang (Trek, 10 hours)

  • Trek Distance: 10 km

  • Elevation Gain: 668 m (4,700 m)

  • Trek Details:  Our group will set off in the dark by headlamp around midnight. From Ali Camp, it is 4-5 hours of steady climbing to get to the top of the Gondogoro La pass. Once atop the La, we can enjoy stunning sunrise views of every major peak in the area. The descent from Gondogoro La into the valley below is done with the assistance of a series of fixed ropes. Trekking from the top of the pass to Kuisbang Camp takes 3-5 hours.

  • Overnight: Camp at Kuisbang.

Kuisbang to Saicho (Trek, 6-7 hours)

  • Trek Distance: 17 km

  • Elevation Loss: 1265 m (3430 m) 

  • Trek Details: The first two hours are on glacial moraine before the landscape changes into a green, hilly, easy trail. There are a few small river crossings and several steep, exposed sections as well.

  • Overnight: Camp at Saicho.

Saicho to Hushe (Trek, 4-5 hours), Hushe to Skardu (Jeep, 5-6 hours)

  • Trek Distance: 11 km

  • Elevation Loss: 250 m (3,180 m)

  • Trek Details: A relatively easy day as you descend further into the lush Hushe Valley. Enjoy the breathtaking views of Masherbrum and the other towering peaks in the region. Once in Hushe head back to Skardu for a proper hotel with hot shower to celebrate our successful trek. 

  • Overnight: Hotel in Skardu.

Skardu to Islamabad (By flight)

  • Morning: Fly from Skardu to Islamabad.

  • Arrival: Check into group hotel in Islamabad.

  • Activities: Rest and recuperate after the trek. Take time to savor the experience, explore more or perhaps enjoy a coffee at one of Islamabad's nice cafes. We'll have our final group dinner tonight celebrating what we have just accomplished.

  • Overnight: Hotel in Islamabad.

Departure from Islamabad

  • Activities: There are no activities planned for the day. Checkout before noon from the hotel. 

  • Departure: Transfer to Islamabad International Airport for your departure.
